 THE
DIRECTOR - DAVID LISTER
After studying Fine Arts and being employed in professional
theatre, David Lister graduated with first class honors from
The London Film School and returned to South Africa to work
in the film & television Industry.
In a career spanning 28 years he has directed 14 cinema &
teleFeatures, 11 television drama series (totaling 125 episodes),
a 52 part puppet series and 63 documentaries, commercials and
corporate videos.
David's productions have been widely distributed internationally,
appearing on ITV, Disney, Fox, HBO, RTL 2 and Sky. Seven of
his films have been released theatrically in the UK, Ireland
and South Africa.
He has won six Artes (South African equivalent of the "Emmy")
and two Star Tonight! (SA National Critics) directing awards
for the television dramas "Riding High", "John
Ross", "Barney Barnato", "The Big Time",
"Konings" and a Fespaco jury award for "Soweto
Green".
His two Leon Schuster comedies "Oh Schucks Here Comes UNTAG"
and "Panic Mechanic" broke South African cinema box
office records.
Has a good rapport with actors and many have won awards for
their performances in his films.
